Class Theme: Let the Sunshine In

Whether it’s a gloomy day or a bright sunny day, this revitalizing flow will uplift your mood, re-energize your soul and put a smile on your face. This is all about the heart openers! Big crescent lunges throughout sun salutations, chest expansions with arms wide open in standing postures all mixed into a sweet and steady flow. Create a playlist with your most favourite songs (I’ve included some of mine below) and enjoy the power and simplicity that is Yoga!

The following theme can be used either for your own personal practice, or for your group classes or one on ones that you are teaching. Everything below is just a guide based on my thoughts and experiences in the moment. Feel free to change anything to better suit your teaching/practice style or so that it feels more authentic to you and your own teaching voice. Namasté

Theme: Let the Sunshine In

Quote: “Focus your attention on the Now and tell me what problem you have at this moment.” – Eckart Tolle

Physical Focus: Lots of spinal extensions and teach a few poses you don’t often teach like wild thing, wheel or bow pose. Blend it all together with lots of cat/cow and side stretches to keep the spine subtle and warm.

Mudra: Palms Open – the gesture of giving and receiving

Pranayama: Three-Part breath

Niyama: Santosha – Contentment

Chakra: 4th Chakra – Heart

Essential Oil*: Elevation: Lavandin Flower, Lavender Flower, Hawaiian Sandalwood, Tangerine Peel, Melissa Flower, Ylang Ylang Flower, Osmanthus Flower, Lemon Myrtle Leaf.

My favourite Songs:

“Let Your Heart be Known” Steve Gold

“Light of my Soul” Ajeet Kaur

“Inescapable Love” Miten

“This Little Light of Mine” Elizabeth Mitchell

“Three Little Birds” Bob Marley + The Wailers
